Thank you for attending our meeting!
Thank you to those who attended and to those who were supporting us in spirit and positive thoughts. :)
We were able to write 8 letters to CeCe, which Van will mail out together, to show our solidarity and support for her.
There is a new, trial version of a different way to administer T available at Howard Brown this summer. It is applied on the skin, under your arms, much like deodorant. One of our members is using it and will be writing a review for us soon!
Another of our members is trying to compile the experiences of trans* people of color in the Lakeview area/in Chicago. She’s still in the process of putting this together, but if you’re interested, stay tuned!
We have the following community events in July to look forward to:
*Dancing with the Queer Stars: Queer Dancing with the Stars takes community activists & organizers and puts them to work! After several practices, these stars take the stage to raise money for inner city youth to attend dance, theater, and writing camp. Several SQS supporters & members are in the show—so come out and support them & the kids! Facebook event page here.
*Fiesta del Sol: The largest midwestern Latin@/Hispanic festival located in Pilsen! Over 1.4 million people attend it—there is a carnival, plenty of food stations, community booths, and more! We will be there staffing the LGBTQ table with Lambda Legal, so come by and visit & enjoy the fun!
*TGIF: Trans* Gender Non-Conforming Intersex Freedom is coming up! The Midwest’s First Trans / Gender Non-Conforming / Intersex Pride, featuring music, performances, speak outs, poetry, skits, beauty parlors and more! SQS will be helping to set up and doing a self-defense workshop!
Thank you SQS’ers! Thank you to all our members, supporters, followers, readers, etc. Feel free to reblog these events, especially if you’re in Chicago/Illinois!
