[Chicago] Resident cartoonist Van Binfa will be giving a workshop tutorial on Trans* Narratives and Web Comics next week! Here is the flyer with all the information—please circulate in your communities and continue to spread the word! [You do not need to know how to draw for this event!]

The Trans Oral History Project and Soy Quien Soy present an interactive workshop about drawing transgender narratives. This is a great place for folks to meet queer and trans*-friendly people and build community while learning new skills. Both groups consistently work at supporting and bringing together queer/trans* individuals and their allies together in safe, open spaces. Allies are welcome to attend. Van is an artist with his own comic series up at xQsi Magazine, and will be talking about trans* web c
omics and the importance of trans* narratives and art. Join us as we discuss the history of transgender comics, pick up a few drawing tips, and add our voice to a group project.


Soy Quien Soy is a Pilsen based grassroots collective of queer/trans* individuals who come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We strengthen community and provide a resource network at our once a month, free and open meetings. Art supplies will be provided! Please don’t worry if you don’t know how to draw or don’t draw as a hobby, etc. This is aimed at expressing one’s self and expression in any form is beautiful! Translation to Spanish will be available for folks.Spread the word!
